First Baby of the Year 2021

TCF Executive Director, Arc Adetayo Erinle joined the First Lady of the Federation Dr Mrs Aisha Buhari, who was represented by Dr Mairo Almakura (Special Assistant to the President on African First Ladies Peace Mission) and Mrs Jummai Mohammed representative of the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs to welcome the first baby of the year 2021, born at 12am at Karu Primary Healthcare Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In the words of Dr Mairo Almakura ‘child spacing is key to sustaining the health and wellbeing of mothers and their babies’. She emphasised the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, saying the six months process would benefit both mother and child and help babies acquire the necessary nutrients for healthy growth.
The first lady presented the baby of the year with a certificate, cash and many gifts. Other babies and nursing mothers in the medical facility also received gifts including P&G pampers and sanitary items.
