Mercy Corps Post ENGINE II Visit to TCF
The Mercy Corps Nigeria team paid a visit to Tabitha Cumi Foundation to see the sustainability structures through which behavior maintenance has been achieved since ENGINE II close out in 2020.
The team, led by Mr Timothy Zakka Program Manager Girl-H was welcomed by the ED, TCF. In a brief interactive session, she highlighted the achievements of the ENGINE II project and its sustainability including the Code of Conduct for FCT Schools & NMEC for Non- formal learners in 36 States & FCT.
She described the Creative Hub Co-operative which is an offshoot of the ILO skill acquisition on ENGINE II as one of the project’s biggest sustainability, stating the Hub currently exports products and attends local exhibitions thereby increasing girl’s income .The team went on a tour of the Creative Hub workshop where they interacted with the members and made some purchases.
The team also visited the Nyanya community where they met with the Chief of Nyanya, Community Action Committee members , a Learning Centre Facilitator and ENGINE II participants, doing well in business, one a Coca-Cola distributor and the other a tailor and charcoal dealer. They also interacted with 2 out of school girls integrated back to school currently in tertiary institutions.
Mr. Timothy Zakka, Mercy Corps program Manager for Girl-H who led the team said that the ENGINE II project was a win-win for Mercy Corps and TCF. Other team members were Shadrack Steven, the Strategic Learning Manager, Jennifer Madueke, Girl-H Program Manager, Esther Kopel, Program Manager, Girl-H Uganda, Lomodei Alive,Program Manager Girl-H Kenya, Toni Kopsuto, MEL Advisor Kenya, Toluwalope Omabumuwa Program Officer, Lagos and Umar Mohammed Umar Program Officer Kano.
