UN CSW67 Parallel Event

Tabitha Cumi Foundation organized a virtual event themed: Spotlight on Period Poverty: The Nigerian Experience as a side event in the UNCSW 67.

Deliberations were very robust with the Executive Director of TCF speaking about the impact of the “Always Keeping Girls in School (AKGIS) Menstrual Health Hygiene project funded by Procter and Gamble and the establishment of school pad banks” while Mrs. Mariam Shaibu a representative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, highlighted “The Role of Nigerian Government in Addressing Period Poverty”.

Mrs. Anuoluwapo Fashola the Gender Equality Diversity and Social Inclusion Advisor of Mercy Corp Nigeria discussed “ How to End Period Poverty in Nigeria through Public Private Partnership”, and the event was moderated by Mrs. Felicia Iyore Onibon president of Change Managers International.

The event was attended by over 60 participants and stakeholders from Africa, Asia & Europe. At the end of the presentations, questions were asked by several participants and they were well addressed by the relevant speakers and contributions were made by participants. The event ended with a documentary of the AKGIS project.
