Commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023: Making Menstruation a Normal Fact of Life by 2030

In a bid to drive inclusion in menstruation, Tabitha Cumi Foundation supported by Procter & Gamble implemented the Always Keeping Girls In School (AKGIS ) program at the Abuja School For The Deaf, Kuje for one year. It was a year of providing 100 beneficiaries with correct information on MHM and monthly supply of Always sanitary pads.

In commemoration of the 2023 MHM day, there was a close out event at the school premises. Program beneficiaries shared the impact of the AKGIS program and made presentations which included success stories, drama presentation and cultural dance display. In the words of one of the beneficiaries, “Most times we dont feel comfortable when we are menstruating because our parents dont have money to buy pad for us, we thank Tabitha Cumi for bringing pad for us, we feel happy, thank you and God bless you all”.

The event was attended by stakeholders who gave good will messages including Mrs Hajara Ahmed the Deputy Director Gender, FCT Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs Oby Ikechere the Assistant Chief Program Officer, National Orientation Agency, Mr Bamidele Olayitan the Principal Administration, Abuja School for the Deaf, TCF team, teachers and students from the Abuja School for the Deaf, Kuje.
