Functional literacy is a powerful tool for empowering women and girls in rural communities which enhances their control over their income and living standards. Children whose mothers have no education are more likely to be out of school than those whose mother have some sort of education
Tabitha Cumi Foundation (TCF) therefore established Adult Literacy Centres in our communities to give a ’Second Chance’ to rural women and girls who lost the opportunity to be educated due to early marriages, teenage pregnancies, poverty and civil disturbances.
The TCF Second Chance program also help rural women and girls maximise economic opportunities, increase productivity, improve food security because women will reinvest in their household.
